Regarding Confessions
While it is not necessary to make a
confession before Communion every Sunday (unless a serious sin has been
committed), all Orthodox Christians are asked to reflect upon their
spiritual lives constantly and to make confession periodically (typically
every three to four months). Confessions are heard during Matins, as time
permits, after Liturgy, or by appointment. Please await your turn by sitting
in the fourth pew on the left side of the Church, while reciting the
pre-communion prayers, which can be found in the red service book on pages
204-208.
A Note to our Visitors
We are glad to have you worshipping with us
today. We hope you will sign our guest register and will introduce
yourself to Fr. John after the service. Please also join us for coffee
following Liturgy. Since we understand
Communion to be a sign of our unity of faith,
only Orthodox Christians who have prepared themselves through prayer,
fasting and periodic confession are permitted to participate in Holy
Communion. All present, however, are welcome to partake
of the blessed bread, which is distributed at the end of the service.
